The Challenge
The client required a safe and reliable way to open their entrance door independently due to mobility limitations.
In addition, their assistance dog played an important role in their daily routine and needed to move freely
between spaces within the home.
The client’s goal was simple but very specific:
“I want the door to open for mummy.”
Our Solution
ASN installed an automatic swing door system configured for smooth, low-force operation to ensure safe and comfortable use.
Rather than installing the activation switches at a standard height, ASN worked closely with the client to create a bespoke solution.
Touchless activation switches were positioned at a height and location suitable for the assistance dog to operate using its nose.
The system was carefully configured and tested to ensure:
- Reliable activation by the dog
- Safe and easy operation for the client
- Full compliance with automatic door safety requirements
The Result
The installation successfully restored independent access for the client, while the assistance dog quickly learned
to activate the door using the touchless switches.
The door now opens safely and reliably, allowing it to open “for mummy” exactly as intended.
The client later shared videos of the dog confidently operating the door system,
demonstrating the success of the bespoke solution.
